Family Law Litigation
The Firm focuses its practice on the division of high net-worth estates, premarital and partition or post-marital characterization agreements; modifications of prior orders, including modification of child custody orders; and alleged irregular financial activity in the context of estates litigation. As a Certified Fraud Examiner (“CFE”) with an accounting undergraduate degree, an MBA, and over 28 years of experience in the forensic consultancy, legal advisory, and litigation experience, Halmagean is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experience to assist clients with a high net-worth asset balance sheet in reviewing financial records, identifying past and present possible acts for financial misappropriation, and coordinating in-depth reviews and assessments of identified financial issues with third-party consulting and/or consulting experts. The attorneys in the Firm have had a cumulative experience of over 38 years working in the business and family law litigation arenas; they often work with testifying and consulting experts to trace, summarize, and formulate the foundational basis for expert testimony that begins with identifying issues to be developed around the goal of reaching a fair settlement to the client or taking the case to a jury.
In the words of a client of the Firm: “Marcela Halmagean is one of the few attorneys out there who are passionate about her work.” Halmagean’s response to that is “My passion for the cases the Firm accepts, permeates my relationship with each client.” During each initial consultation, Halmagean evaluates each case based on the facts presented and determines a course of action; she decides, after conferring with the staff in the Firm, whether or not to represent a new potential client based on his/her facts and whether there is chemistry between the staff and the potential client. The Firm’s attorneys expect an honest and open dialogue with you, the client. They also return that expectation by being upfront in presenting your options and advising on moving forward at each step of the case. The strategy is for us to present. The moves are for you to make.
